Summary

In order to improve the separation of oil and refrigerant at the inlet of a semi hermetic compressor, a new arrangement was developed: the entering refrigerant collides against a screen and is directed towards the front wall of the compressor. In addition, the oil is separated in the free volume of the compressor, in front of the windings of the electric motor. Research was made for different arrangements of the geometrical parameters of the compressor and of the suction tubing. Optimum combinations were determined. C.C.
