Carrot: effect of temperature on germination.

Carotte : incidence de la température sur la germination.

Author(s) : VILLENEUVE F., BOSE J. P., LUNEAU C., NARDON E.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The authors study how different varieties of carrot seed react to ambient temperature during their germination period. They specify the germinal property, germination rate (or germinal vigour), temperature action threshold (3,5 deg C), temperature sum to define a "thermal time" index (expressed in degree-days) which permits uniform comparisons between species. They also analyse the low and high temperature effect as well as the reaction variability between lots and varieties. J.R.
