CFC issue: a wholesaler's perspective.
Author(s) : BALLANTYNE S.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The refrigerant wholesaler has the added responsibility of advising contractors regarding environmentally safe refrigerants, also the whole question of whether old CFCs should be recovered, recycled or totally reclaimed. In Australia the ability to treat some forms of refrigerant contamination are limited. Contractors are advised never to mix refrigerants in recovery cylinders or allow contamination of one refrigerant by another. The treatment terms are explained. A system has now been set up by which wholesalers will pay a refund to customers returning processable refrigerant. This will be paid from an account known as the ODS Fund collected by a levy on the sale of reclaimed CFCs. D.W.H.
