Summary

The demand for energy-efficient heating solutions in railway trains has driven the development of ultra-low temperature heat pump systems, where vapor injection scroll compressors play a crucial role. Traditional scroll compressors often suffer from inefficiencies in extreme cold environments due to high pressure ratios and inadequate injection performance. This study addresses these challenges by conducting a comprehensive CFD simulation of a vapor injection scroll compressor designed for railway applications. The research investigates the impact of injection pressure, rotational speed, and geometric configurations on compressor performance. Results indicate the injection sequence causes asymmetric injection for two working chambers in scroll compressors. The injection ratio was enhanced from 23% to 29% without requiring higher injection pressures through updated port design. The integration of a discharge valve was found to mitigate severe under-compression, resulting in an 11.3% reduction in indicated power. These results provide valuable insights for optimizing compressor design and improving heating efficiency in railway train air conditioning systems under ultra-low temperature conditions.
