Characteristic research and experiment simulation of a heated wall in a natural displacement ventilated room.

Author(s) : NIU J., SONG D.

Summary

This paper reports on research on fundamental fluid mechanics which lead to thermal stratification in a room containing sources of heat. The theoretical model of the ventilation flow stratification in such a room and the numerical results from this model are presented. The functional relationship between the non-dimensional effective vent area and the non-dimensional height of the thermal interface in the natural displacement ventilated room which contains a single heated vertical wall (such as a wall heated by solar radiation) is observed experimentally and determined that the non-dimensional lamination is independent of the buoyancy flux provided by the effective vertical wall.
