Numerical simulation and experimental study on the thermal stratification phenomenon in large space buildings.

Author(s) : WANG H. Q., WANG Z. Y., LIU C. R., et al.

Summary

In the winter, supply warm air is often needed to raise indoor temperature, and sidewall air supply and sidewall return is usually used. In this paper, the laws of thermal stratification with sidewall air supply and sidewall return airflow in the air-conditioned room are mainly studied. Some important factors influencing thermal stratification were analysed, including air supply inlet height, air supply angle and so on. The large eddy simulation (LES) results are in good agreement with the experimental data. This is considered to establish confidence in applying LES methods to the calculation of hot air delaminating in large space buildings.
