CHARACTERIZING LOSSES IN REVERSING VALVES: HEAT TRANSFER LOSSES.

Author(s) : DAMASCENO G.

Summary

EXPERIMENTS WERE CONDUCTED TO MEASURE THE TEMPERATURES OF A REVERSING VALVE AND TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY DATA FOR CALCULATING THE REVERSING VALVE HEAT LOSS UNDER FREE CONVECTION. FOR THE PARTICULAR VALVE ANALYZED, THE MAJOR PATHS ARE THROUGH CONDUCTION. RADIANT AND CONVECTIVE LOSSES ARE RELATIVELY INSIG-NIFICANT. THE IMPORTANCE OF INCLUDING THE TUBING ATTACHED TO THE VALVE IN THE ANALYSIS IS UNDERSCORED.
