SUMMARY OF A RESEARCH PAPER ON THE BEHAVIOUR OF MATERIALS THAT CAN BE USED AS WATER ABSORBENTS IN A CHEMICAL HEAT PUMP BASED ON THE REVERSIBLE ABSORPTION/DESORPTION OF WATER VAPOUR. TWO GROUPS OF MATERIALS WERE STUDIED: ABSORBING SALTS (MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE AND POTASSIUM CARBONATE) AND ADSORBENTS (ZEOLITE AND SILICAGEL). THE DIFFERENT BEHAVIOURS OF BOTH GROUPS ARE STUDIED MAINLY FOR THE TEMPERATURE LEVEL OBTAINED AND ITS DEVELOPMENT IN TIME DURING THE ABSORPTION CYCLE. THERMAL CAPACITIES ARE DISCUSSED (ESPECIALLY THE TWO-STAGE HYDRATION OF MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE). THE WAY OF USING THE MATERIALS STUDIED IN A HEAT PUMP, WITH TWO DIFFERENT PATTERNS, IS DESCRIBED. J.R.
