Choice of installations and control of ammonia gas detectors.

[In Russian. / En russe.]

Summary

It is supposed that safe operation of ammonia installations is linked with gas detectors which control the current moment values of toxic ammonia concentration in the air. Now, there is a need for increased sensitivity, precision and operating speed of current gas detectors because gas pollution must be reduced 8-fold if the maximum concentration allowed is 20 mg/m3. When produced, the gas detectors are tuned on minimal parameters equal to 20, 60 and 500 mg/m3. This makes it possible to produce standard products, but there are some organic defects. Such defects are explained by histograms of symmetrical distribution of a group of gas detectors according to their individual errors at nominal exploitation error is plus or minus 50%, that is real for existing equipment. The authors cite several proposals to increase the reliability of gas detectors. The paper presents figures and histograms.
