Summary

Deals with the operating conditions of the ventilation systems for five blocks of flats which were monitored at intervals over a period of 11 years after the systems were put into use. Finds that on average the main supply and exhaust flows were reduced by 1.2 and 5.4%, respectively per annum. Cleaning the systems showed that between 29 and 77% of the measured reduction of the main flows was due to contamination of the systems. On average the specific electricity consumption of the fans increased by 5% per annum. Of this, 55 to 100% was caused by contamination of the systems.
