Climate control.
Author(s) : CHEVIN D., MACNEIL J.
Type of article: Periodical article
Summary
Presents three short articles dealing with aspects of environmentally conscious air conditioning plus energy conservation. 1) Chill winds: points out that everyone will have to upgrade or change their air conditioning plant when CFCs are phased out in 1995. Looks at the alternative systems on offer and the costs. 2) Air fresheners: examines the new wave of passive systems for keeping offices and other buildings cool without the use of CFC-based refrigerants. 3) Moving targets: refers to an energy conservation rating system based on total energy use rather than U-value measurements, which is being discussed by housebuilders. Explains the system, which takes account of differing climates. Concludes by supply a guide to some climate control products available in the United Kingdom.
