Summary

This article concerns a network of chilled water used in air conditioning in Paris. A thermal storage plant using chilled water is described. The capacity of the reservoir provides the equivalent of 17.5 megawatts of refrigeration production over a 6-hour period and eliminates all unpleasant production-related aspects. The reservoir comprises 13 compartments of equal size (each with a volume of 1000 m3), one of which is empty at any given time, thus preventing mixing of chilled and hot fluids.
