Summary

This publication includes the text of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, Background to the Origin and Elaboration of the Code and Resolution 4/95 as adopted by the 27th Session of the FAO Conference on October 31, 1995. It sets out principles and international standards of behaviour for responsible practices with a view to ensuring the effective conservation, management and development of living aquatic resources. It recognizes the nutritional, economic, social, environmental and cultural importance of fisheries.
