Codex alimentarius and the World Trade Organization, a new role for experts?

Codex alimentarius et l'Organisation Mondiale du Commerce, un rôle nouveau pour les experts ?

Author(s) : DOUSSIN J. P.

Type of article: Article

Summary

Since the last round of GATT negotiations and the adoption of the agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Agreement) and of the agreement on Sanitary and PhytoSanitary measures (SPS Agreement), the texts elaborated within the framework of the Codex alimentarius have served as a reference by revealing national regulations that are exaggeratedly "impeding" fair trade. These texts can therefore be used against states whether or not the latter have decided to accept and integrate them in their national regulations.
