Summary

Tests are carried out on a new type of humidifier. The latter is composed of a vertical tube in which water is injected at the base, through a number of holes made in the tube wall, whereas airflow is forced upward so that an annular flow pattern is induced; the water exiting from the top of the tube is re-injected into the tube. The tube diameter ranges from 16 to 20 mm and its length from 1000 to 2000 mm. Results, in term of increment of specific humidity along the tube, are reported as function of the volumetric flow rate of air and its inlet temperature. In the authors' opinion, this system permits more flexible operation as compared to a conventional humidifier. E.F.
