Commercial rooftop GAX absorption heat pump: a market assessment for Canada.

Summary

The paper relates to a study on the potential market of the generator absorber heat exchanger (GAX) absorption heat pump technology for light commercial (3 to 20 tons) rooftop applications in Canada. The study makes use of technical and market data to compare 4 types of HVAC technologies as applied into a typical commercial building for different regions of Canada. The market analysis results show that GAX unit shipments in a mature market would capture 18% of the Canadian light commercial HVAC market. This represents over 4600 units per year at a targeted price point of USD 1,300 per ton. Energy savings are estimated.
