Comparing magnetocaloric properties of substrate-constrained and freestanding epitaxial Ni-Mn-Ga-Co films.

Summary

Due to its structural first-order transition the Heusler alloy Ni-Mn-Ga-Co is a novel and promising material for solid state magnetocaloric application. Since bulk Ni-Mn-Ga-Co shows a giant inverse magnetocaloric effect we prepare and analyze epitaxial films on substrate and released films to understand the influence of external constrains on magnetic properties and magneto-structural transitions.
