Summary

Concentrates on air conditioning of spaces with high ceilings (three metres and above) with large cooling loads. Notes the development of variable supply air swirl diffusers to meet this situation, which permit the matching of the jet profile to the prevailing thermal load. The jet can be adjusted so that the supply air is provided radially in a horizontal plane for cooling, and vertically for heating. Presents a review of five makes from different manufacturers to determine how well they solve the problems. Illustrates and discusses the test results.
