Summary

THE WORK DESCRIBES A COMPUTER PROGRAMFOR THE DESIGN OF 4 TYPES OF HELIUM 4 COOLED CRYOSTATS. CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE THERMAL BALANCE ARE COMPUTED AND THE POSITIONS OF THE HELIUM 4 GAS COOLED SHIELDS ARE DETERMINED BY OPTIMIZING THE TIME FOR WHICH THE HELIUM STAYS IN THE MAIN BATH. THE 4 TYPES OF CRYOSTAT CONSIDERED ARE ALSO DESCRIBED, ALONG WITH SOME EXAMPLES TO ILLUSTRATE HOW TO MAKE GOOD USE OF THIS PROGRAM.
