Summary

Many existing operating rooms were designed to a great extent following the example of industrial clean rooms, seeking unsuitable high degrees of cleanliness, high air changes and laminar air flow technique, resulting in investment and operating costs that were too high. The paper discusses contamination control during the design concepts and methodology, and emphasizes comprehensive bacteria control during the whole process, using only cleaning technology to ensure the bioclean environment aiming at prevention of cross-infection risks.
