Summary
Based on heat convection and conduction theory, energy balance equations, the authors develop a concise algorithm model for the design of buried vertical pipe heat exchangers. The comparison between the calculation results by the algorithm and the stable measurement data in a summer in Dalian shows that the error can be neglected for engineering applications. Different design schemes can be obtained under given heat exchange amount by the algorithm, namely the combination of various buried pipe depths, horizontal spacing, fluid velocities inside the pipes and the number of buried pipes, at the same time the corresponding fluid temperatures flowing in and out of the buried pipes can be found.
