Summary
While HVAC systems take up a considerable portion of the total energy consumed by a building, functional requirements seem to have been restricted to designers' minds while energy efficiency was altogether ignored in HVAC system design until very recently. Through case studies, misconceptions in the design of HVAC system in terms of energy efficiency are higlighted. Energy saving design ideas requiring special attention are proposed. The design methods of HVAC systems based on energy efficiency are discussed.
