Control consideration of multistage cold compression systems in large helium refrigeration plants.

Author(s) : ASAKURA H., KÜNDIG A.

Summary

The paper describes a control philosophy for multistage cold compression systems operating in helium refrigeration systems at sub-atmospheric pressure down to a temperature of 1.8 K. As a current example, the control philosophy and operational requirements of the four-stage cold compression system of the CERN LHC plants are discussed.
