Summary

ABSORPTION AND CENTRIFUGAL UNITS ARE STUDIED, CONSIDERING THEIR REFRIGERATION POTENTIALITIES AND THEIR CONTROL SYSTEMS, THE ADVANTAGES AND LIMITS OF THESE MACHINES AND THEIR TYPICAL APPLICATIONS. THE AUTHORS ESPECIALLY DESCRIBE THE LITHIUM BROMIDE ABSORPTION CYCLE AND THE USE OF CHLOROFLUOROCARBON REFRIGERANTS IN CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSORS AND WATER-COOLED OR AIR-COOLED CONDENSERS. THE AUTHOR ALSO DESCRIBES THE CONTROL SYSTEM WHICH, DEPENDING ON INSTANTANEOUS CONDITIONS OF HEAT LOAD, AUTOMATICALLY VARIES EITHER THE POSITION OF PREROTATION FINS ON SUCTION OR THE NUMBER OF ROTATIONS OF THE COMPRESSOR ; THUS THERMODYNAMIC EFFICIENCY IS OPTIMIZED WITH CONSIDERABLE ENERGY SAVINGS.
