Correlation of solubility data of carbon dioxide in POE lubricants.

Author(s) : BOBBO S., FEDELE L., PERNECHELE F., et al.

Summary

A systematic study on the solubility of CO2 in some commercial polyolester oil lubricants and their precursors has been started at our laboratory. In previous papers several measurements at 283 K on the solubility of CO2 in two homologous series of pentaerythritol tetralkyl esters (n-alkyl esters and 2-methyl alkyl esters), i.e. precursors of commercial lubricants, have already been presented and discussed. Here, a discussion on the temperature (ranging from 243 and 343 K) dependence of solubility for a specific n-alkyl ester (PEC4) will be discussed on the base of new data through their correlation with a thermodynamic model based on a cubic EoS.
