Summary

RELEVANT HANDBOOKS RECOMMEND DIFFERENT EQUATIONS TO CALCULATE THE PRESSURE DROP FOR LAMINAR AS WELL AS FOR TURBULENT FLOW IN HELICALLY COILED TUBES. TO IMPROVE THE BASIS FOR CORRELATION, A GREAT MANY EXPERIMENTAL DATA WERE COLLECTED AND STANDARDIZED. THE EQUATIONS GIVEN BY MISHRA AND GUPTA ARE RECOMMENDED TO CALCULATE THE FRICTION FACTORS FOR LAMINAR AND TURBULENT FLOW. THE CRITICAL REYNOLDS NUMBER MAY BE DETERMINED FROM AN EQUATION GIVEN BY SCHMIDT.
