Coulomb blockage thermometry.

Thermométrie à blocage de Coulomb.

Author(s) : GODFRIN H.

Summary

The author describes the properties of "Coulomb-blockage" thermometers, made up of a network of sub-micronic tunnel junctions. These systems have numerous qualities. They can operate as a "primary thermometer", which often avoids tricky calibration procedures. Their temperature response is practically linear, and unrelated to the magnetic field. Their degree of accuracy is around 0.5% which is more than sufficient for new applications. The first commercial "CBT" thermometers have been marketed by Nanoway, a Finnish company.
