Summary

Cooling towers are building service system equipment causing legionellosis, and the mechanism of growth, diffusion and invasion of the disease is described by analyzing examples of past outbreaks. Additionally, a practical prevention method is presented as regards equipment, chemical feeding and operation control. The risk of outbreak of the disease by types of humidifiers is also explained and countermeasures are discussed.
