Summary
Industrial water systems, humidifiers and cooling systems can be the origin of an outbreak of deadly Legionnaires' disease, placing personnel at serious risk and affecting the local working environment and surroundings. Fortunately, once properly identified and assessed, the associated risks can be easily reduced to a negligible level. A valuable tool for controlling the risks is the LegionellaScan. The risks are identified and categorised using risk assessment and adequate measures are specified, then effective control of Legionella risks is incorporated in day-to-day operations by means of a control protocol.
