Summary

RUPTURE DISCS ARE WIDELY USED IN CRYOGENICS FOR PROTECTING PRESSURE VESSELS AND PIPING SYSTEMS AGAINST OVERPRESSURE. IN THE PAPER THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF DISCS ARE COMPARED. IN PARTICULAR, THE DOMED DISCS AND THE REVERSE BUCKLING DISCS OF DUCTILE METAL FOIL AND FLAT DISCS OF BRITTLE MATERIAL (GRAPHITE) ARE DISCUSSED. FOR EACH OF THESE TYPES THERE ARE SPECIFIC ADVANTAGES AND RESTRICTIONS.
