Summary

THE PROPERTIES OF A LAYERED SUPERCONDUCTOR WITH JOSEPHSON INTE RACTION BETWEEN THE LAYERS ARE INVESTIGATED. THE JOSEPHSON BINDING BETWEEN THE LAYERS IS ASSUMED TO BE SO WEAK THAT THE TRANSITION FROM TWO-DIMENSIONAL TO THREE-DIMENSIONAL FLUCTUATIONS ON APPROACH TO THE TRANSITION TEMPERATURE OCCURS IN THE REGION OF STRONG FLUCTUATIONS. PRECISELY SUCH A SITUATION IS ENCOUNTERED IN HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTORS BASED ONBISMUTH, THALLIUM OR LEAD.
