Summary

TODAY, ARTIFICIAL COOLING CONSUMES UP TO 20% OF THE TOTAL WORLD ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND THIS TENDENCY WILL INCREASE BECAUSE IN THE FUTURE THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE AN ALTERNATIVE TO REFRIGERATION AS A METHOD FOR FOOD PRESERVATION. CRYOBIOTECHNOLOGY IS THE MOST PROMISING OF MODERN BIOLOGY DEVELOPMENT. REFRIGERATING APPLIANCES OPERATING OVER WIDE TEMPERATURE RANGE (FROM POSITIVE TO NEAR ABSOLUTE ZERO) IN BIOLOGY APPLICATIONS WILL PROVIDE NEW SOLUTIONS TO MODERN PROBLEMS IN MEDICINE, AGRICULTURE, THE FOOD INDUSTRY AND OTHER FIELDS. CRYOBIOTECHNOLOGY IS NOW A SCIENCE AND ITS EARLY ACHIEVEMENTS HAVE SHOWN PROOF OF ITS POTENTIALITIES.
