Summary

A practical method for calculating the heat transfer in a cryogenic vacuum insulation system has been described in terms of the basic modes of heat transfer: solid conduction through the spacer material, gas conduction and thermal radiation. The equations used to simulate insulation were introduced and applied to a multilayer insulation blanket.
