Summary
NICA (Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAcility) is an accelerator complex being constructed at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics (LHEP) of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna to be study the properties of hot and dense baryonic matter and spin physics. It includes: injection complex, booster synchrotron, synchrotron Nuclotron, collider, MPD (multipurpose detector) and SPD (spin physics detector), all installations are superconducting (SC). At the moment, a successful joint launch of the booster synchrotron and the Nuclotron synchrotron has already taken place. All regular SC magnets for the NICA collider successful passed cryogenic tests and prepared for installation in the collider ring.
Cryogenic test of the SC magnets includes several steps: cooling down process of the magnet to a temperature of 4.5 K, magnet training (quenching), magnetic measurements at liquid helium temperature, measurement of the magnet heat loads and hydraulic resistance of the cooling channel, helium leakage test and warming up process of the SC magnet. This paper presents experimental data of static heat inflow, heat loads and pressure drops of the dipole and quadrupole SC magnets.
