Type of article: Article

Summary

Embryonic axes of two cultivars of hazelnut were cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen, with or without previous desiccation to different moisture contents. Although recovery after freezing was observed without previous desiccation, this treatment improved the response in both cultivars. Maximum recovery percentages after freezing were obtained at 12% moisture content (fresh weight basis) in "Morell" (85% recovery) and at 11% moisture content in "Butler" (50% recovery).
