Summary

AN IMPROVED RECOVERY OF KIDNEY SLICES FROZEN AND THAWED IN THE PRESENCE OF DIMETHYL SULPHOXIDE WAS FOUND WHEN A PORTION OF THE DMSO WAS REPLACED BY AN AMIDE. THIS WAS CONSIDERED TO BE A TOXICITY NEUTRALISING EFFECT OF THE AMIDE FOR DMSO. THE INTERPRETATION AND THE SPECIFIC TOXICITY REDUCTION IS REVIEWED ALONG WITH THE RESULTS OF OTHER WORKERS IN THIS FIELD. C.R.F.
