Summary

THE RESULTS OF CRYOTHERAPY IN 193 BRANCHES OF THE TRIGEMINAL NERVE IN 127 PATIENTS WITH PAROXYSMAL TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA ARE REVIEWED OVER A THREE-YEAR PERIOD (FROM 1985 TO 1988). SEVENTY-TWO PATIENTS (125 BRANCHES) WERE FOLLOWED UP ON FOR 6 TO 27 MONTHS. 58.4% OF TREATED NERVES WERE FREE OF PAIN OVER 1 YEAR AND THE MEAN PAIN-FREE TIME WAS 13.7 MONTHS. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT CRYOTHERAPY IS SAFE ANDEFFECTIVE.
