Summary

THE NONEQUILIBRIUM STATE LEADS TO A SHARP INCREASE OF THE EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE OF THE JUNCTION AND TO AN INCREASE OF THE DECAY PROBABILITY OF THE METASTABLE CURRENT STATE. AT A NONEQUILIBRIUM LEVEL WHICH EXCEEDS THE THRESHOLD VALUE, THE EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE BECOMES NEGATIVE. IN THIS CASE PHASE AND VOLTAGE OSCILLATIONS ARISE IN THE JUNCTION AT A CURRENT WHICH IS LOWER THAN THE CRITICAL VALUE.
