Type of article: Article

Summary

The removal of obstructions in the bronchus through cryotherapy, which was first completed in 1989, has proved to be a valuable operative technique. The following is studied: the mechanism and specific role of extra-cellular freezing, the equipment used, a cryosurgical unit with cryoprobes; the equipment cost is indicated, together with maintenance requirements. The method is then described in detail, which requires efficient cooperation between the lung specialist and the anaesthetist. This method can be used for treating tumors, either benign or malign, either flaccid or with a high water content. It can be associated with other therapies. Y.G.
