Summary

An existing 50,000 ft2 (4645 m2) raised floor data center, with 5000 kW of information and communication technology (ICT) equipment load capacity, needed to be expanded in 2004 to accommodate an additional 3000 kW of high-density load. The existing data center floor, designed in 2000, used state-of-the-art alternating hot and cold aisles layout with an average rack load of 4 kW. The additional space needed to serve higher density racks of up to 16 kW per rack with an average density of 8 kW per rack.
