THE AUTHOR WRITES THE COMPLETE EQUATION OF ALL ENERGY OVERCONSUMPTIONS DUE TO FROSTING-DEFROSTING. THE DISCUSSION OF IT LETS ESTIMATE THE AVERAGE RANGE OF ATTAINABLE SAVINGS AND GET A CLASSIFICATIONOF THE VARIOUS POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS. VARIATION OF OVER-CONSUMPTION WITH AIR HUMIDITY IS THEN CONSIDERED AND A COMPARISON MADE OF 3 TYPES OF DEVICES FOR MONITORING THE DEFROST OPERATION, AND OF THEIR EFFICIENCY. IT IS SHOWN THAT NO DEVICE CAN OPERATE AN OPTIMIZED DEFROSTING, UNLESS THE ADJUST-MENT IS MODIFIED FOR EACH HUMIDITY.
