Demand for value-added seafood products provides opportunity for third world.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Details are given of surimi based imports into the various EEC countries from Japan, Korea and Thailand. Specific fish imports such as hake, shark, dogfish, tuna, shrimp and cephalopods are discussed at length. In spite of 15-25% tariffs for value added products, the author suggests that the supply of semi-finished fish products is one possible way of deriving more benefit from fish resources in developing countries.
