Summary
THE ISSUE OF EVALUATING THE WORKING FLUIDS OF THERMODYNAMIC SYSTEMS BECOMES PARTICULARLY SIGNIFICANTEACH TIME A NEW GENERATION OF REFRIGERANTS IS CREATED. POWERFUL COMPUTATION DEVICES MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO PROVIDE PRECISE NUMERICAL ANALYSES USING COMPREHENSIVE EQUATIONS OF THE REFRIGERANT PROPERTIES, WHEN AVAILABLE. NEVERTHELESS, THE METHODS USING BASIC THERMODYNAMIC RELATIONSHIPS TO DERIVE SIMPLE AND EASILY-APPLICABLE FORMULAS AND CRITERIA ARE STILL EXTREMELY VALUABLE. ONE REASON IS THAT THERE IS A CLEAR REPRESENTATION OF THE PHYSICS OF THE PROCESSES AND RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE QUANTITIES. ALSO, WHEN A SMALL NUMBER OF BASIC THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES IS USED, A PRE-EVALUATION CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED, EVEN FOR NEW, INSUFFICIENTLY EXPLORED REFRIGERANTS. CONSISTENT AND COMPLETE DERIVATION OF OFTEN-USED DIMENSIONLESS CRITERIA FOR EFFICIENCY EVALUATION OF REFRIGERANTS IN VAPOUR COMPRESSION CYCLES IS PROVIDED BY COUPLING ANALYTICAL AND TIONS AND THE PHYSICAL ESSENCE OF THE AREAS IN THE TEMPERATURE-ENTROPY DIAGRAM.
