DESIGN AND APPLICATION OF A NEW GENERATION OF SCREW COMPRESSORS FOR REFRIGERATION.

Author(s) : PILLIS J. W.

Summary

THE PRIMARY IMPROVEMENTS IN THE NEW MACHINES ARE 1) IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PRACTICAL METHOD TO VARY THE COMPRESSOR VOLUME RATIO DURING OPERATION, THUS AVOIDING THE LOSSES ASSOCIATED WITH OVER-AND UNDERCOMPRESSION, AND 2) IN THE INCORPORATION OF A COMPLETE ANTIFRICTION BEARING DESIGN. THESE MACHINES HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED IN APPLICATIONS WHERE THEY PROVIDE GREATER EFFICIENCY AND FLEXIBILITY THAN DO CONVENTIONAL SCREW COMPRESSORS. ENERGY SAVING TECHNIQUES ARE BECOMING MORE COMMONPLACE AS THE RESULT OF SCREW COMPRESSORS WHICH CAN MORE EASILY ADAPT TO CHANGING SYSTEM CONDITIONS.
