Summary
Although some parameters have an important impact on the actual performance of an air-cooler, ammonia air coolers very often are selected on a surface basis. In the paper, experimental test data are used to analyse three parameters: tube pitch, fin shape and fin thickness. The analysis shows that air coolers with identical tube pitch and surface may differ by 25% in performance, depending on fin design and fin thickness used.
