Design and performance of an "inertia" reciprocating compressor.
Author(s) : DI FLORA M. A., WU K.
Summary
In this type of compressor, the suction valve is mounted on top of the piston; this provides a large area for the passage of suction gas. Inertia helps the movement of the valve. Heat exchange between suction and delivery gas are tremendously reduced. Performance of that type of compressor is higher than in other type of reciprocating machine. The paper describes also the design of an "inertia" compressor of about 2.5 to 5 tons of refrigeration.
