DESIGN OF EVAPORATORS FOR REFRIGERATING ADSORPTION EQUIPMENT.

CONCEPTION D'EVAPORATEURS FRIGORIFIQUES UTILISABLES DANS LES CYCLES A ADSORPTION.

Author(s) : MARCHAL D., MORIN J. M.

Summary

REFRIGERATING UNITS USING THE ADSORPTION PHENOMENON REQUIRE SPECIFIC DESIGN OF EVAPORATORS BECAUSE OF THE VERY LOW VAPORIZATION PRESSURE OF THE WORKING FLUID. THE STUDY DEALS WITH THE RELATIVE PERFORMANCE OF THREE TECHNOLOGIES: FINNED TUBES, FALLING FILM AND GROOVED TUBES. FIRST, A THEORETICAL OPTIMIZATION WAS PERFORMED, THEN A TESTING BENCH WAS SPECIFIED AND BUILT TO INVESTIGATE THE PERFORMANCE OF SIX DIFFERENT HEAT EXCHANGERS ON TWO WORKING FLUIDS: WATER AND METHANOL. THE RESULTS PROVIDE, ESPECIALLY FOR WATER, PRACTICAL DATA FOR THE SIZING OF SUCH EVAPORATORS.
