Summary
The Engineering Test Model (ETM) is a facility storing 20 megawatts.hour and serving as technology demonstration for Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES). The coil, 96 meters in diameter, operates in superfluid helium at 1.8 K, and is based on a 200 kiloA cable-in-conduit conductor.
