Summary

THE REGENERATION MECHANISM OF RAT BONE TISSUE SUBJECTED TO CRYOFREEZING WAS STUDIED. IT HAS BEEN SHOWN THAT 16 DAYS AFTER CRYOFREEZING NORMAL CHONDRO-AND OSTEOBLASTIC ELEMENTS WHOSE STRUCTURE INDICATES BIOSYNTHETIC ACTIVITY APPEAR IN THE CRYONECROSIS ZONE. THIS CORRELATES WITH INCREASED INCORPORATION OF LABELLED AMINO ACIDS INTO THE ACID-INSOLUBLE PROTEIN FRACTION AND 3H-THYMIDINE INTO DNA OF REGENERATED BONE.
