DETERMINATION OF INTERFACIAL TENSION AND CONTACT ANGLE BY VIDEO IMAGE PROCESSING OF SESSILE DROPS OF LITHIUM BROMIDE SOLUTION.

Author(s) : OKADA M.

Summary

AN EXPERIMENTAL DEVICE WAS DESIGNED TO RECORD THE PROFILE OF A GROWING OR CONTRACTING DROPLET ON A PLANE SURFACE WITH VARIATION OF THE CONTACT LINE. THE LIQUID IS INTRODUCED AT A CONSTANT FLOW, THROUGH A HOLE DRILLED AT THE CENTER OF THE PLATE. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY IS THE IMAGE PROCESSING OF THE DROPLET AT REST. THE SEGMENTED IMAGE OF THE DROPLET IS FITTED BY THE LEAST-SQUARE METHOD IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE SURFACE TENSION AND THE CONTACT ANGLE.
